Special Announcement - Book Winners !
144 people were brave enough to try and win one of two
free copies of my latest book: "World Wide Marketing,
Third Edition. Thanks! But only four (Four? Yes, 4) of
you are winners:
1. Ari Buchwald- http://www.nykamp.com
for being the *very first* to respond.
At 07:33 AM 7/2/01, Ari Buchwald wrote:
Hi Jim,
Thanks so much for the book! I arrived at the
office this morning to find it in my inbox and
I've moved it to the top of my reading list!
Thanks again~!
[My pleasure, Ari]
2. Mary Hughes
was selected by the Excel random number generator.
Mary - send me your postal address and I will
post a copy to you post haste. Congrats!
3. "Jay Ansari"
for pointing out that given the ways of the Web, and
the many time zones FSA goes out to, "first" isn't
at all indicative of fastest. Besides writing from
a tremendously cool dot-tv domain, Jay said:
Now, you may want to consider the fact that I live
in Jakarta, Indonesia and should I win, you will
need to send the book half way around the world.
This ought to cheer you up.
I wrote back:
As of now, you are the lead contestant in the
as-yet unannounced parallel contest called:
who entered the contest from the furthest away
from Santa Barbara, CA?
I went to Google, typed in "miles between cities"
and was pointed to http://www.indo.com/distance/
where, naturally, the example they gave in their
Distance Calculator was: Jakarta!!
Distance from Santa Barbara to Jakarta? 8894 miles.
So Jay - send me your postal address!
4. Tom Bajzek
for the best attempt at flattery as a means of
winning: It worked! Here's his entry:
Jim,
I always enjoy your articles. They are the best
things going now regarding Internet marketing and
customer service.
Tom - send me your address.
Yes, this next one *would* have won this hands down
if it had come in on time (there was a deadline,
remember?):
Free book or not, I read your newsletter faithfully
to the end. Thanks for the insights and laughs. I
especially enjoyed your "WHEN WILL THEY EVER LEARN".
It is amusing that they (Penton) did not seem to know
that you were one of their strongest reasons for having
their "Internet World" seminars. Your "Web Marketing
Mastery Forum" was the highlight of Spring Internet
World 2001! I've been working on the 17 Silver Bullets
(eliminating 404's and answering their e-mail within
24 hrs. as some of the most important) and improving
other areas of our site.
Thanks for a great newsletter.
Sincerely,
----
I'm all choked up.
OK, OK - I give up. Seth McCulloch from www.amis.com -
send me your postal address and I'll make it 5 winners!!
For the rest of you?

and my thanks.
Cheers!
